L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, an acknowledged academic, research, social and cultural centre, was founded in 1996 by the Decree of, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The mission is to become a leading research and education centre of the Eurasian region, which will provide favourable conditions for conducting research and acquiring advanced knowledge; and will train specialists to develop the priority sectors of the economy and be accountable to the Government and to society for the outcome of their activities.
The strategy of the university development include 4 main directions:
Training competitive experts;
Formation of the university as a research centre in Eurasian Region;
Human resource and management system development;
Infrastructure and material-technical base development.
The straightforward strategy has helped the university to enhance and become one of the leading national universities in Kazakhstan and entered top 400 leading universities of the world. ENU offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in: Engineering, Natural Sciences, Art& Humanities Social Sciences Physical Sciences at 13 faculties.
The total number of students is more than 17,000. The research and education activities are implemented by highly qualified faculty staff: more than 60% are members of the research and sectoral academies, Doctors and Candidates of Science, Professors, Associate Professors, PhDs, and holders of honored prizes. More than 50% faculty are alumni of prestigious world universities.
Teachers and professors of the transport and energy department give fundamental knowledge that is aimed at developing theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Currently, the transport and energy faculty has a joint educational program (two diplomas) for the preparation of masters in the specialty “Organization of transport, traffic and operation of transport” within the framework of the inter-university agreement between the Eurasian National University (Kazakhstan) named after L.N. Gumilev and the Riga Technical University (Latvia) in the field of railway transport.
The program “Double Diploma” is a unique opportunity for those who want to become an expert in their field and gain foreign experience both in terms of study and in terms of practice. After successful completion of training, the trainee receives diplomas from ENU and Riga Technical University. The main priority of the university is development of state-of-the-art scientific fields, innovations and technologies including mathematics, alternative energy, biotechnology, IT and nanotechnologies. That’s why we pay great attention to providing our laboratories with up-to-date equipment and all necessary facilities for study, research and invite high professional faculty from our partners. There are 28 scientific laboratories, including Kazakh-Indian Center’s of Excellence in Information and Communication Technology (IKCEICT) which is equipped with super-computer; Institute of Cryptology, Institute of Mathematics etc.
Since 2014 Eurasian Mathematical Journal is included into Scopus database. In 2016 Eurasian Journal of Mathematical and Computer Applications was accepted in Scopus as well.
ENU opened the innovation park in 2011. Innovation Park is a subdivision of the University and its aims is to integrate science-industry-education to develop and apply innovation project to solve scientific problems of the industry and social sphere. Park activities are inter alia support Start-up. ENU dynamically collaborates with leading HEIs and Centers on:
Joint publishing in rating magazines;
Joint fulfillment of innovative projects;
Recruiting of foreign scholars and involving them in scientific projects; Concluding long term agreements with leading scholars and faculties.
