JSC “Academy of Logistics and Transport” has been the legal successor of JSC “Kazakh Academy of Transport and Communications named M. Tynyshpayev” since February 2021.
The history of the higher educational institution begins in 1931, when a branch of the Central Asian Institute of Railway Engineers with railway, mechanical and operational specialties was opened in Alma-Ata to train personnel for the Turkestan-Siberian Railway.
In 1957, this branch was transformed into a training and consulting center.
The above mentioned training and consulting center was reorganized into Alma-Ata branch of Tashkent Institute of Railway Engineers in October 1, 1967.
On May 20, 1976, Alma-Ata Institute of Railway Engineers was established on the basis of the branch.
On January 1, 1991, Alma-Ata Automobile and Road Institute was established on the basis of Alma-Ata branch of Ust-Kamenogorsk Construction and Road Institute.
On May 7, 1996, Kazakh Academy of Transport and Communications as an enlarged higher educational institution was formed to train specialists for the transport industry of the republic on the basis of two transport educational institutions – Alma-Ata Institute of Railway Engineers and Alma-Ata Automobile and Road Institute.
Nowadays it is Academy of Logistics and Transport (ALT).
Today ALT is the leading higher technical educational institution in Kazakhstan for training personnel for railway (including urban electric transport and metro) and road transport.
More than 5,000 students are currently studying at the academy. There are 3 faculties, 17 departments. The educational and scientific process at ALT is carried out by highly qualified teaching staff, more than 60% of which are doctors and candidates of sciences, professors and associate professors. The academy has colleges in the cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Aktau, Aktobe and Shymkent.
ALT graduates will have jobs in such national companies as: JSC “National Company “Kazakhstan Railways”, JSC “National Company “Kazautoroad”, JSC “KEGOC”, the Union of transport workers of Kazakhstan “KAZLOGISTICS” and etc. Such companies are in constant development; therefore, professionals are always needed here. Currently, the academy is the main supplier of highly qualified specialists to state-owned enterprises, where jobs await them.
ALT has experience in implementing international projects under Tempus programs such as “InnoLabs in Central Asia a Sustainable catalization of innovation in the Knowledge Triangle – INOCAST” » (543746-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-ES-TEMPUS-JPHES), “Promoting Educational Organisation through people – PEOPLE” (543657-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-KZ-TEMPUS-JPGR) and etc. ALT is trying to be a leader in the transport education development of the high-speed railway transport design, construction and operation, despite the fact that there is currently no high-speed communication in the Republic of Kazakhstan. ALT will namely become the first HEI that works in this direction. Our university is the only educational institution in Kazakhstan, where an educational program in the direction of “High-speed railways” has been introduced.
