One of the largest multiple-discipline HEI of Kazakhstan. The university offers 86 bachelor programmes, 61 master programmes and 14 Ph Dprogrammesin such fields as engineering, education, law, business, art and design, culture, sport, tourism. 21 programs are taught in English. SKSU has 4 higher Schools and 9 faculties in the field of chemical engineering, textile and food engineering, information technology and energy, civil and transport constructions, mechanics and oilgas, economics, pedagogical and humanitarian sciences. There are 11 scientific-research institutes, 9 research centers, 6 international scientific-educational centers, 38 research laboratories. 115 research and educational projects are fulfilled in the university. There are about 16500 students, including master and PhD in the University. The teaching staff is 1665 teachers; among them academicians of National Academy of Sciences, academicians of National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 135 doctors of sciences, about 700 candidates of sciences.
The quality management system successfully functions in the university according to the requirements of international standards. SKSU is one of the first HEIs which has confirmed high quality training of specialists in engineering by means of international accreditation of 22 study programmesin German agency ASIIN. The result of successful accreditation is the right of SKSU, first among CIS universities, to confer quality labels ‘Eurobachelor’ on 4 educational programmes in the sphere of chemistry, EUR-ACE® label on 6 programmes of engineering profile and Euro-inf® on 2 programmes in informatics. SKSU’s scientific-research activity is oriented for social-economic development of Kazakhstan. Research is carried out in such directions as chemistry and chemical technology, biotechnology, processing of hydrocarbon raw, metallurgical processes, renewable sources of energy and others.
